Waterfront’s corporate team has had a record year – aided by the well timed arrival of our new partner, Angus Young. We’ve been in high demand, with a number of substantial, high profile M&A deals completing during 2018, including the sale of Realla, the UK’s largest free-to-list online search engine for commercial property, which was reported in The Financial Times, and the sale of longstanding client Wambiz, an innovative provider of app-based staff engagement solutions for the health, education and enterprise sector, to Allocate Software.
We also advised on a record number of venture capital investments for clients with a combined value of in excess of £100m, including $50m of growth capital for longstanding client Workable, $20m for Blueground and a seed investment in Exseed Health listed by Forbes as the number one startup to watch in 2018.
We have also celebrated a new entry this year for our corporate team in the legal directories. The Legal 500 have officially ranked the corporate team as a whole in the Corporate and Commercial- Venture Capital category. The team are described as having ‘excellent understanding of what it takes to work with start-ups where agility is required‘. Special mention goes to our Head of Corporate Matt Cunningham who is described as ‘first-rate‘, with clients commending his ‘attentive and thoughtful approach‘ in their feedback.
