Matthew is an experienced solicitor specialising in employment. He advises organisations and individuals on all aspects of employment law and human resources issues.
He represents all sizes and types of business, from companies taking their very first steps through to long-established multinational corporates. His employee clients come from a diverse range of sectors, including education, financial services, legal and health care.

Matthew can assist from the very start of the employment relationship, including offering advice on hiring, reviewing and negotiating contracts and drafting company policies. He also helps employers prepare risk assessments, consider their data protection obligations and devise procedures for assessing disciplinary matters, grievances and staff welfare issues.
He has extensive expertise in bringing employment relationships to an end and knows everything about the issues that can arise when such a relationship has finished. His in-depth experience of redundancy, dismissal and discrimination cases and all aspects of confidentiality provisions and post-termination restrictions (restrictive covenants), mean he is in constant demand. He regularly drafts settlement agreements for employers and can advise employees if they have been offered one by their employer.
Matthew has been working in employment law since 2011. He joined Waterfront in 2016. He is a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Lawyers’ Christian Fellowship.
