Waterfront and its solicitors have been highly ranked by The Legal 500 international legal guide.
The 2022 edition of The Legal 500, which has just been published, ranks Waterfront in its Intellectual Property: Trademarks, Copyright and Design; Venture Capital; and IT and Telecoms categories.
Waterfront’s intellectual property lawyers Piers Strickland, Matthew Harris and Phil Leonard are all highlighted in The Legal 500. It calls Piers “robust and tenacious’’ and “exceptional’’ and praises his work on trade secrets and copyright infringement claims in the financial services sector. The guide describes Matthew as “quick, sharp and thoughtful’’ with “an outstanding knowledge of IP law’’ and draws attention to his specialist agrochemicals knowledge.
The Legal 500 also mentions Waterfront’s work in recent passing off proceedings involving Microsoft and says it provides “a very focused and value-driven service to its clients’’.
The guide describes Waterfront’s “deep expertise in venture capital topics’’ and the “fantastic service’’ it provides for entrepreneurs. It says the firm’s venture capital team is “professional yet compassionate’’ and “reliable, responsive, creative, collaborative and communicative’’. It singles out Matthew Cunningham and Angus Young for special praise and emphasises Matthew’s strength in negotiations and impressive roster of clients.
The Waterfront IT and telecoms team is commended for having exceptional knowledge of the tech sector. The Legal 500 says the team is quick to recognise the legal requirements of businesses and skilled at providing practical solutions to issues.
