Jamie is an Associate solicitor specialising in employment law. He gives empathetic, practical and commercial advice and clients value his responsiveness.
I started specialising in employment law (following a previous career in hospitality) when I qualified as a solicitor at the start of 2021, which is also when I joined Waterfront. Since then, I have been able to assist a wide variety of individuals and businesses from many different sectors and industries. I enjoy that while the law I advise on does not often change, the relevant facts and circumstances do, so the matters I work on are highly variable and I deal with people from all walks of life.
My goal when advising is always to balance pragmatism and commerciality with empathy and understanding, and (wherever possible) to try to get my client to the best achievable outcome with a minimum of fuss, cost and stress, so that they can get back to running their business or progressing their career.
I periodically post and write articles about employment law (including in The Times) and have delivered training on trans law in the workplace to a number of employer clients.
In my spare time I skate for London’s Southern Discomfort Roller Derby, which takes me all around the country competing at the top of UK roller derby. I am also obsessed with US-style smokehouse food and spend as much time as possible throughout the year in the garden with my trusty BBQ.
Jamie and the team at Waterfront were really supportive, responsive and couldn’t have been more reassuring as I worked through a situation with my employers
Jamie assisted me with a workplace dispute and I was very pleased with the service. He kept me regularly updated, gave practical advice explained in clear terms and was robust but practical in negotiating on my behalf
We have turned to Waterfront for advice on HR issues for several years now. We find their lawyers to be very knowledgeable, responsive and able to find practical solutions to the HR challenges we face as a large organisation.
